The Empty Stocking Fund
Each year at Christmas time the Jaycees begin their annual toy and food drive to benefit those less fortunate during the holidays. For years the Swainsboro Jaycees have spent countless hours collecting donations from schools, businesses, and citizens in our local community. Those donations are sorted and dispersed based on applications returned to them from individuals and groups. Traditionally, on the Saturday before Christmas, Jaycee members load their personal vehicles with boxes of toys, canned goods, a gallon of milk, and a ham to make deliveries all throughout the county. In just this last year alone over a hundred families benefitted from this worthy project. |

Pinewood Derby
Ready! Set! Race! Millions of Cub Scouts around the country have built their own cars and competed in the Pinewood Derby. At the heart of the project’s success is the process itself – bonds are strengthened as the Cub Scout partners with a parent or an adult mentor to design, carve, paint, weigh, refine, and race the car. The Swainsboro Jaycees have had a long-term partnership with the local Cub Scout Pack. On race night, the cars are judged based on appearance and are then they are raced according to the Scout’s age class. An overall Pinewood Derby Champion is eventually crowned, but on this night the Jaycees, the Scouts, and their families are all winners! |

Southeast Georgia Jaycee Fair
The Southeast Georgia Jaycee Fair is by far the largest and longest running project of the Swainsboro Jaycees. It began as a partnership with the Emanual County 4-H until it was mutually decided that the Swainsboro Jaycees would take over the project exclusively in 1978. Jumping in head first, the Jaycees purchased land and constructed the existing warehouse which is still in use. Today, the fair draws thousands of children and adults each year to participate and enjoy the livestock shows, 4-H exhibits, pageants, live entertainment, Jaycee Food Booth, and exciting rides and games of the Southeast Georgia Jaycee Fair. |

Kevin Hutcheson Memorial Golf Tournament
The Kevin Hutcheson Memorial Golf Tournament is a project of the Swainsboro Jaycees which is held on the third Saturday of August each year. The project began in 1997 as a way to honor a very dear member of the Jaycees, Kevin Hutcheson, who lost his life to epilepsy. The idea was to host a golf tournament and donate all the proceeds to the Epilepsy Foundation. This project has grown beyond all of their expectations. In just it's first year of inception, a donation of $3,745 was made to the Epilepsy Foundation. To date, the Swainsboro Jaycees have used the contributions to donate over $73,000 to charity. |
Fourth Of July Fireworks Celebration
The Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration is an annual Jaycee project that began as a partnership with the local radio station in 1981 and is held at the Emanuel County Airport. As recently as 1995, approximately 180 mortar shells were fired into the air by trained Jaycee members during the 30 minute show. This major project wouldn't be possible without the many man hours dedicated to fundraising and organizing the event. With the unfaltering support from our local businesses, Probate Judges Office, airport officials, local law enforcement, Emanuel County EMS, the Swainsboro Fire Department, Falcon Fireworks, and the City of Swainsboro, this project will continue for many years to come. |
